Before Your Appointment

✅ Confirm your appointment Check the date, time and location of your appointment If you need to reschedule, contact the clinic as soon as possible ✅ Arrive on time Please arrive 10–15 minutes early to allow time for check-in and any necessary paperwork ✅ Bring required documents Medicare card (if applicable) Referral letter: you can attend clinic without it, but you will not receive the Medicare rebate without one Private health insurance details (if applicable) Any relevant medical records or test results A list of current medications and allergies ✅ Wear comfortable clothing If attending for a physical examination, wear loose, easy-to-remove clothing ✅ Prepare your questions Write down any questions you may have about your health concerns or treatment options

On the Day of Your Appointment

✅ Check in at reception Let staff know you have arrived ✅ Bring a support person A family member or friend can accompany you if needed for support ✅ Follow clinic protocols You may be asked to fill out forms or provide additional information ✅ Discuss your concerns Be open about your symptoms, concerns, and treatment preferences ✅ Take notes Write down key points from your consultation for future reference

After Your Appointment

✅ Follow-up care Ensure you understand any next steps, such as further tests, follow-up appointments, or treatment plans ✅ Prescription & medication If given a prescription, follow instructions carefully ✅ Contact the clinic if needed If you experience worsening symptoms or have further questions, call the clinic for guidance

Billing Information

✅ Medicare Online Claiming​

  • Your Medicare rebate can be automatically deposited into your nominated bank account

✅ Out-of-Pocket Expenses

  • Our fees are privately billed

  • Medicare rebates may apply, but some out-of-pocket costs will remain

✅ We Do Not Bulk Bill​

  • All patients will have out-of-pocket expenses

  • Full payment is required on the day of the consultation

Medicare and Private Health Insurance Coverage

✅ Medicare Rebates With a valid GP referral, Medicare may cover part of the specialist consultation or procedure fee The rebate amount depends on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) fee ✅ Private Health Insurance Covers hospital-related expenses, but does not cover specialist consultation fees (e.g., surgeon, anaesthetist, paediatrician) If surgery is required, your health fund may contribute to: Hospital accommodation Theatre fees Inpatient services Gap fees may still apply ✅ Inpatient vs. Outpatient Coverage Medicare and private health insurance do not cover private specialist consultations in an outpatient setting Private insurance may cover some costs if you are admitted to a private hospital

Obstetric Services: Medicare and Private Health Cover

✅ Medicare Coverage for Pregnancy Care Covers some antenatal visits, blood tests, ultrasounds, and routine pregnancy care with a Medicare-registered provider Public hospital births are covered under Medicare, but may involve waiting times and limited choice of doctor Private obstetrician consultations and management fees are partially covered by Medicare — out-of-pocket expenses apply ✅ Private Health Insurance for Pregnancy and Birth If you have private hospital cover with obstetric services, you can: Choose your private obstetrician Have a private hospital birth Typically covers: Hospital stay Labour ward Theatre fees (e.g., caesarean section) Newborn care Gap fees may apply for: Obstetrician Anaesthetist Paediatrician Additional care for complications Many policies have a 12-month waiting period before pregnancy-related services are covered — check with your insurer ✅ Costs to Consider Private obstetrician management fees – Medicare provides a partial rebate, but there will be out-of-pocket expenses Antenatal scans and tests – Some may incur gap fees even with Medicare coverage Epidural or pain relief during labour – May involve additional charges Postnatal care – Follow-up visits may have partial Medicare rebates, but can still involve out-of-pocket costs

✅ Consultation Fees Payment is required on the day of your appointment Medicare rebates (if applicable) will be processed electronically ✅ Procedure Costs If you require surgery or obstetric care, you will receive a detailed fee estimate, including: Surgeon or obstetrician fees Anaesthetist fees Hospital fees (covered by private health insurance, depending on your policy) Any out-of-pocket expenses (gap payments) ✅ Informed Financial Consent Full disclosure of costs will be provided before any procedure You will be informed about what Medicare and private insurance cover, and what you may need to pay out-of-pocket
